Walking with Penguins & Seals Heli Hike – Privately Guided & Private Helicopter

Walking with Penguins & Seals Heli HikeWalk with penguins and seals in their pristine natural habitat while exploring rugged coastline and ancient podocarp forest on this unique heli hike adventure.

Begin your journey with a spectacular scenic drive to Glenorchy. Renowned as “one of the most beautiful drives in the world”, the road hugs the turquoise shores of Lake Wakatipu as it winds through valleys and around mountain peaks.

Relax in the comfort of your Land Rover Discovery or Mercedes van and enjoy the flexibility of stopping wherever and whenever you like for photo opportunities or rest stops.

Board your privately chartered helicopter and soak up the spectacular scenery as you fly over the Routeburn and Hollyford Valleys and land in Martins Bay.

We continue our adventure on foot, trekking along the wild and rugged coastline surrounded by ancient podocarp forest and native flaxes. Walk alongside native Fiordland Crested Penguins in their natural habitat and keep an eye out for Fur Seals lazing around on rocks. Keep an eye (and an ear!) out for plentiful birdlife such as Wood Pigeons, Kakariki, Fantails and the New Zealand Robin.

Add on a stunning Milford Sound scenic flyover and you can experience a thrilling glacier landing.

Note: The best time of year to see penguins is July to November (breeding season). They’re also seen occasionally mid-January to early March (moulting season).
